What isThe Best Gift I Could Get This Season?

Macys-Believe-momgotblog

I have been asking myself this question all weekend long…

What is the best gift I could receive this holiday season?

My hubs home…that is just a given (I’m really missing him)

Sadly, I’m finding that I would love a big ‘ole gift of Holiday Spirit.

Not to offend anyone with political correctness- but I celebrate Christmas, so that is the term I will use for the remainder of this post.

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas. Ahh, that feels good to say.

Now, it could be my current circumstances, but I feel like I am only going through the Christmas motions….I light my lights each evening, plug in the trees and listen to music. The house looks pretty this year…I got the decorating done early and even added some new sparkle. Any other year I would be just plain giddy. This year, I sit to look at the tree and that crooked little smile that normally curls into my cheeks stays dormant.

Bah Humbug.

Yesterday, I wanted to take advantage  of some sales noticed in the Sunday paper… out the door I went- no shower, hair barely combed, face sans make-up, praying to the heavens that I would not run into anyone that I knew. My main goal was to get in and out of Wally World and Target before noon.

I decided to go to Walmart first because to stand in those lines during the weekend is torture in and of itself, let alone during the holidays. I had a short list; a few food items and Christmas wrapping paper and bows. It should have only taken me no more than 30 minutes. I was stuck there for over an hour. Everywhere I turned, someone was stopped in the middle of the aisle, just standing, looking and not responding to the  ”excuse me” that I kept uttering. Drove me crazy. Do you not see that YOU ARE TAKING UP THE WHOLE LANE??

Bah Humbug!

The other annoying thing?

Scooters. Now I know that some people medically require these to get around the store, but this past Sunday it felt like folks were just being lazy. The reason I say this is because most of them could not drive them. They were running into shelves, backing up when they wanted to go forward and beeping the little horn. Really?

Walmart should institute a “scooter shopping hour” like the lifeguards at the pool call “adult swim” ….just for the lazy people.

Bah Humbug.

I then made my way through Target with my short list of gifts and coffee.  As this shopping experience was a lot easier, including a cashier that opened just when I needed a cashier, one would think that a little Christmas spirit would have made its way into my now seeming Grinch-like heart – making it sing like a Who from Who-ville.

Nope. Nothing.

I clicked on the radio for some Christmas tunes hoping that would make me feel a little better….and it did for a while.

Maybe when I have clicked and shipped the last transit gift off to a waiting recipient and I begin to mix cookie dough will the Christmas Spirit arrive.

All I can say, is I hope it is a gift that I can open before Christmas so that I can enjoy what normally is truly my favorite time of year.

Are you ready for the holidays?

Oh Kelly, I’m sure it’s tough this year being home without your favorite Christmas elf :( I hope that some Christmas spirit creeps in so that you can enjoy it a little more.

I’m ready. Don’t want to rub it in though. I have to get things done early. Because my family lives all over Gods Creation and I have to ship gifts.

Music tho? Totally works for me

Me too…I think I only have a few left and then I am DONE! I think when the house starts to smell like cookies and the snow is on the ground, my spirit will emerge!

Ok, I’m not the only person who despises those people in the scooters . . . I want to scream “you know, if you forced yourself to walk around Walmart, instead of gliding around, you’d do a ton to prevent your actually needing to use the damn scooter, you lazy ass.”

I’ve switched to my Christmas playlist at work . . . and The Autobiography of Santa Claus when I’m driving or running.

I’m as ready for Christmas as I’m going to be.

I’m feeling ready and not ready at the same time if that makes sense. Getting a little more ready every day, but I also keep remembering things I’ve forgotten!

I find it depressing that people are not comfortable even saying the word CHRISTMAS. I am not too religious, but I celebrate Christmas and I am not ashamed of it. If i hear someone tell me happy holidays one more time, I am going to go crazy. I would rather the person say Happy Hanukah, and that way share what that person celebrates with me.

Well, I am comfortable in the holiday observed in our house.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas! :)
