Back in July of 2011, I had a lovely conversation with the amazing Elena author of Ciao Mom. She had a link up to allow folks the opportunity to voice what they liked about themselves. It was insanely popular and snowballed into a fabulous collaborative site called Just Be Enough.
Be Enough Me is going back to its inception and asking readers to share once again what it is they like about themselves. It’s harder than you may think. While we can often conjure compliments & build up others, sometimes when the tables are turned to reflect within ourselves the task becomes difficult to find the positives without the negative thoughts attached. I went back to read my first post to make sure I would not repeat what I had previously written. I want to make myself think of five NEW things.
This is what I came up with…
1. I like my handwriting. It is a unique combination of print and script and I think it looks pretty on paper. I’ve been told in the past I should make it a font. THAT would be so cool!
2. I am grateful that I am ABLE to move my body every day. Whether it be a walk, run, bike or whatever, I move. I may not feel like it on some days, but I do it and always feel better as a result.
3. I like that I am not afraid to use the word “NO”. The older I get, the easier it is to say. My kids can certainly vouch for that.
4. I like that I am an encourager. If someone shares a bit of doubt in their ability to accomplish a goal, I will always be there to say “You can do it!” I did not have that all too much growing up, so being someone’s cheerleader makes me really happy.
5. I like that I think outside the box. If the ideas work, awesome. If they don’t, then it becomes a learning experience and I move on to the next thing.
Five things is all I could come up with. I had more on the list, yet they were accompanied with the dreaded “but…” so they got nixed. These are the ones that made the cut….
And for now, they will have to be enough.
What things can you add to your list?

I think your list is fantastic. And inspiring! I want to be able to say I like those things about myself too.
Thanks- I liked your list too!
I love this.
Thinking outside of the box is a huge skill and then learning from it if it doesn’t work is an even bigger one!!
Great list.
I have to say that the lesson of learning and moving on has definitely come with age. I have become wiser….I think!

Those are five pretty fantastic things! I like that you nixed your “but” ones. I had a lot of “but” ones; it’s hard to turn off that self-criticism
And now I want to see your handwriting
You are so right- hard to turn that negative-nelly off!

Excellent list, Kelly, and perfectly enough. You inspire me all the time, especially with your fitness and your encouragement of others.

That you have fabulous handwriting? Love! And–I would buy your font!
You my friend are such a large part of why JBE has been so amazing–thank you for this list, for your support and encouragement, and for your friendship.
I think “No” is a powerful word, and not necessarily a negative one. I’m with you, the older I get, the easier it is to say because I know myself enough to know what’s best for me.
Thanks for sharing your list!
I love that you’re not afraid to say NO. That has to serve you well and keep you on track with your priorities. And for your kids? It’s OK that they hear no every now and then (or even a lot).
#4 and 5 are characters I aspire to have, and for you Kelly, they come naturally. That makes you amazing in my book
Your list may be short, but it’s packed with great stuff! XO
