August Blogger of the Month: ThetaMom

What do you get when you combine a mom, a gal who is truly fabulous and a smart, savvy business woman? You get the wonderful Heather Reinhard, founder and owner of Theta Mom®!

 When I began blogging, there were two community sites that I went to on a regular basis and one of them was Theta Mom®. Right from the start I felt welcomed, as if I was in a friend’s kitchen and given a cup of coffee for a chat. Heather created a space where I felt safe to read and share my opinions with other moms who were all feeling the same and had similar questions about topics like blogging, the trials and triumphs of motherhood and where to find fabulous products. 

 Heather has never been the type of person to not help her fellow blogger either. She always shares her insight and tips to lift up another and make them shine in their own light. I learned this as I sought advice from her a few months ago. She was quick to answer my emails and as we went back and forth for an entire day, I was grateful for her time and invaluable guidance.

 After that day, I could sense the wheels turning…and I was thrilled that Heather began her own Social Media Business with Theta Mom® Media. If you are looking to soar to new heights, then I would tell you to run, not walk, to her new site. You will thank me later.

I love Heather and I know you will too!! We took some time to have a Q & A recently. Here is what she had to say:

 MGB:  How long have you been blogging? Why did you decide to blog?

 TM: I’ve been blogging since 2009. I started my blog shortly after the birth of my second child. At the time, even though I was working from home and contributing to the family income, I felt caught between two different worlds; somewhere between the steadfast career that I left behind and the “new” woman trying to find herself with the role of mother added to her resume again. I knew there had to be other women experiencing the same things that I was going through which is the very moment I began to write – and once I did, my blog was born.

 MGB:  What is it about Theta Mom® that makes you the most proud?

 TM: I would say the fact that it’s a true representation of me and everything I am about. Every post is written with heart and conviction. In addition, if I am publishing a sponsored post, it’s a company/business I fully support because it’s a product I believe in and fully endorse. I’ve created an open and honest dialogue with my readers and I think that’s the one thing they have truly come to love about my blog.

MGB:  Do you have a favorite post? Why is it your favorite?

 TM: It’s tough to choose just one because I do have a few favorites, but one that always stands out in my mind is Carrie Bradshaw would be a Theta Mom. It’s one of those posts that simply remind me of the core definition of a Theta Mom and why I began blogging in the first place. It represents the idea that we are all in this thing together – the real sisterhood of motherhood.

MGB:  You have built such a successful, honest relationship with brands/businesses. What top 3 tips would you give a blogger who is starting along this path?

TM: Be authentic, honest and professional. First, I think the key to forming successful relationships is really knowing WHO YOU ARE and translating this to your audience and those you work with and always staying true to yourself and to your own brand. Make decisions that are right for you and nobody else. Secondly, especially if you work (or want to work) with brands, your audience needs to have a high level of trust when you are making endorsements so you need to be open and honest with your readers. Your readers trust is everything, so make sure you really love a product or brand before you partner with them because at the end of the day, that brand becomes part of your image as well. Finally, you must remain professional across all platforms at all times if you want to land the gig, keep the gig and attain future gigs. If you want to work with other professionals, you need to conduct yourself this way online as well.

 MGB:  You have branched out to new waters with Theta Mom® Media! Where do you see your blog/community a year from now?

 TM: My blog will always be my passion and my baby. It’s my safe haven and the place I call home. The community and the sisterhood that has derived from my blog could never be replaced nor could it be replicated. There’s just something so special about Theta Mom that I know in my heart will continue to grow. I would love to see women inspired by my own story, how I’ve been able to go from Adjunct Professor to Mompreneur and would love to help those along their own destined path…wherever that may lead.
